P.A.T Stands for Portable Appliance Testing
If you run a business that uses Electrical Portable Appliances, your insurance company will require that you have P.A.T Testing performed regularly to comply with your policy. Health & Safety Regulations also recommend P.A.T Testing is done for the safety & welfare of you and your staff/workforce. If anyone receives injury due to using faulty electrical equipment at your workplace they may have grounds to prosecute you or take out a liability case against you for negligence.
The general view with regard to pricing P.A.T is that the more items you have to test the cheaper the cost per item. This is what can make P.A.T very expensive for the Small Business Owner. Pembrokeshire P.A.T can cut the expense and will put together a fair quote for even the smallest jobs. If you have up to 50 items we charge £125. All prices are inclusive of V.A.T and no call out fee within 15 mile radius of Haverfordwest. If you live a bit further away there may be a small additional cost to cover fuel expenses. Our pricing policy on all jobs over 100 items is that we charge by the hour (VAT inc). We have EXCLUSIVE packages tailored for Dj's, musicians, entertainers, mobile hairdressers & beauty therapists, who may only have a few items. If you require futher details please call or e-mail.
Depending on the Class Construction of your equipment we may perform a variety of tests.
Visual Inspection of equipment and suitability of equipment to environment it is being used in.
Earth Bond/Continuity Test, on all earthed appliances.
Insulation Test.
Fuse Test. (Where applicable, we will replace fuses at no extra cost.)
Our testers know how to perform these tests safely, even on I.T business/office equipment.
If you need a report of items tested for your insurance company or Health & Safety we are happy to provide you with one at no extra cost.
If an item is found to be dangerous or not suitable for use in its location it will be classed as a Fail. Faulty items must be removed and either repaired or disposed of. We can recommend repair specialists or simply dispose of the item for you. We do not perform repairs, an item either passes or fails. We specialise in testing only. This makes us more cost effective and gives our customers freedom to choose between repair or disposal at their own discretion.
